Kelsey's Talk

Hey my name is Kelsey Glaus and I was asked to speak on what I can do to share the gospel with my friends. I had just turned 12 in December and I was so exited to be able to give a talk in sacrament meeting. I got so impatient that I went up to brother Hoard and told him I wanted to give a talk in sacrament meeting, just to make sure I was on the list. Then about two weeks later he walked into the classroom and handed me a piece of paper that said I was giving a talk which is the talk today. I remember having the biggest smile on my face being so exited that I could do this. Well first I am going to say my feelings on sharing the gospel with my friends. Sharing the gospel to me really helps my friendship get closer. I have a friend I have tried to invite many times but she rejects because she says it is to boring, to long, or because they don't like church. Just because friends say that I just think don't give up they could be one of those friends who take years. I try to encourage them but it makes me feel bad inside that they don't give it a chance. Yes there are easier friends then others and people would do think it is boring but are such good friends they will come anyways. Bit I can fell the big difference asking them with love and making them feel like it would be a great experience, saying it is an unmeaningful way. In and article from the October 1984 New era written by Lindsay R. Curtis I got many ideas on how to be an effective missionary. You can be a good model for our religion by, making them want to share standards such as ours, letting them understand the importance of the church, and inviting them to youth group. Also by making them feel comfortable, inviting them to talk to them about it so they can understand, and giving them the invitation because you would never know if they have been wanting to come to a youth group of yours. Fast and pray that you can find a person to come and enjoy the church. Put a challenge on your self to find a person to bring. Pray that you will know what to say if they ask questions or for other situations. Make it as if you really care for them to come. Don't be impatient some people are harder the others. You may be lucky enough to find someone to come and join right away or some that takes months or even years. But if you pray for it with a good heart and have great faith in that person you are trying to bring in to the church it will help in many ways. IN doctrine covenants 88:67 we are told: "And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light." We are different when we are living the way the savior has taught us. Our bodies will be filled with light, and people will become aware of this. If we live as we believe our effective missionary for us and for the church especially for those who are searching for the more excellent way. These are many people who admire our way of life and our standards of conduct. They want this way of life foe themselves and for their families. There are many on the earth that are only kept from the truth because they do not know where to find it. The book of mark says, "GO ye all into the world, and preach the gospel toe every creature." What I am beginning to realize is that all of my friends are just paying attention to the rules such as not doing activities on Sundays and not wearing bikinis. What I would like to try and teach them is the love of Jesus Christ and the effects of his atonement in him personally. I would like to bear my testimony that I definitely know this church is true and that the bible and book of Mormon are true. I know that if we really have faith we can have many of our friends join our church and help them understand the real reason of the church. I love my family so much and this church and the big influence I receive from it. And hope that one day I can be able to be go on a mission but still be an example of one in my days today and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
